Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 25, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how LostFunds, LLC ("LostFunds," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information in connection with our website at LostFunds.ai and our unclaimed-funds and surplus recovery services. By using our website or engaging our services, you agree to this Policy.
1. Information we collect
We collect information from the following sources:
- Public records.We review publicly available government records — such as unclaimed-property listings, tax-deed and foreclosure sale records, property records, and court records — which may include an owner's name, last-known address, the amount of funds reported, and the reporting holder.
- Contact and identity-verification data from third-party providers. To reach the rightful owner and help confirm we've matched the right person to a public record, we use reputable skip-tracing and people-search providers (e.g., MicroBilt). These providers may return current phone numbers, email addresses, and mailing addresses, and may also return identity-verification fields such as: the masked last four digits of a Social Security number (the first five digits are not returned to us), date of birth, name variants, indicators of whether an address is associated with elevated fraud risk, and whether the person is indicated as deceased in public mortality records. These products are not used for credit, employment, insurance, or other FCRA-regulated decisions; we use them only to identify and verify the rightful owner of public unclaimed-funds records.
- Information you give us. When you respond to our outreach or engage us, you may provide contact details, a confirmed mailing address, identity documents (such as a photo ID), and — only where the holding agency requires it to release funds — your full Social Security number.
- Website and communications data. Standard technical data (e.g., IP address, device/browser) and engagement data such as whether you opened or clicked a link in our emails.
2. How we use information
- To identify funds that may be owed to you and locate you;
- To contact you about recovering those funds;
- To verify your identity and ownership and to prepare, file, and pursue a claim;
- To comply with legal and regulatory obligations; and
- To operate, secure, and improve our website and services.
3. How we share information
We share information only as needed to provide the service:
- Licensed attorneys.The licensed claimant's representative who files your claim receives the information necessary to do so.
- Government agencies. We submit required claim information to the holding agency (for example, the Florida Department of Financial Services).
- Service providers. Vendors that help us operate — such as skip-tracing, identity verification, email delivery, and hosting providers — under confidentiality obligations.
- Legal compliance. When required by law, subpoena, or to protect our rights.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Social Security numbers and sensitive data
Your full Social Security number is only collected from you, with your consent, and only when the holding agency requires it to release your funds. We store it encrypted at rest, use it solely to process your claim, and never sell it.
From the people-search providers described above, we may receive a masked last four digits of an SSN before you engage us (we never receive the first five digits this way). We use that masked value only to (a) pre-populate the SSN field on the claim form so you can confirm or correct it and (b) help confirm we matched the right person to a public unclaimed-funds record. We store only the last four digits in this case; we do not store, derive, or attempt to reconstruct the full number from this source. If your full SSN is required to file your claim, we ask you to enter it directly, with your consent, on a secure form.
We may also receive and store a date of birth, indicators about address risk, and indicators about whether the person is reported as deceased in public mortality records — solely to verify identity and route claims correctly (for example, to a deceased owner's estate or heirs).
5. Data security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption of sensitive fields. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data retention
We retain information for as long as needed to provide our services, pursue or document a claim, and comply with legal, tax, and recordkeeping obligations, after which we delete or de-identify it.
7. Your choices and rights
- Opt out of communications at any time via the unsubscribe link in our emails or by emailing us.
- Access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, subject to records we must keep by law.
To exercise any of these, email support@lostfunds.ai.
8. Children
Our services are intended for adults (18+) and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
9. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time; the "Effective date" above reflects the latest version.
